Pope John Paul II pronounced 2005 to be the Year of the Body and Blood of Christ in an effort to help foster a greater devotion to, and understanding of, the Holy Eucharist. Bishop Thomas Wenski announced the establishment of Corpus Christi Catholic Church to serve the needs of the growing Catholic community in and around Celebration and the numerous tourists frequenting Central Florida. Our first Mass was celebrated on May 21, 2005 with 350 faithful in attendance at the cafeteria of Celebration School. Within two years we outgrew our temporary home and graduated to our next temporary home, the cafeteria of Celebration High School. It was there that the seeds of a permanent home were sown and introduced through the campaign of prayer and stewardship entitled Celebrating our Faith, Building on Solid Ground.
As we continue to grow our parish, we remain faithful to the words of our mission statement:
As a welcoming faith community, centered in the Eucharist and guided by the Holy Spirit to do God’s will, we seek to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by being good stewards of God’s gifts and blessings, thus giving glory and praise to Him.
